The festival has been created and realized since 1988 through the Federal University of Sao Joao del-Rei’s extension program and it is, nowadays, result of the multiple campus character of the institution. In recent years, its activities have been extended to other cities in the state of Minas Gerais, as Sete Lagoas and Divinópolis.
The event has been synonymous with revitalization, promotion and encouragement of various forms of artistic and cultural events such as music, theater, film, dance, visual arts, literature and cuisine. Its activities are workshops, exhibitions, concerts and seminars.
