Founded in 2004, originally in Ouro Preto and then in Belo Horizonte, the Peoples Image showcase addresses issues about cultural diversity by highlighting faraway cinematographic productions still unknown in Brazil. The project also encourages the strengthening of production networks, distribution and display of audiovisual materials that promote tolerance, global awareness and flow of regional productions. Throughout its editions, the festival has had works from New Zealand, India, China, Japan and especially from African countries like Cameroon, Burkina Faso, Madagascar, Nigeria and Congo.
